Message from the Representative
Before establishing this company, I worked at a design and architecture firm in Tokyo. At that time, it was still common for design and production to be separate processes. It was then that I happened to see, through my work, an overseas artist who brought their imagination to life with their own hands—a sight that left a profound impact on me.
This experience strengthened my desire to integrate design and production, and this became the origin of D-NINE. Since then, under the philosophy of “craftsmanship that creates an emotional impact,” we have continued to pursue one-of-a-kind expressions.
Our company, which began by producing sculptural objects and chandeliers, is now pioneering a new realm of expression in metal finishing with our proprietary “DEE MOTION” technology. This is the culmination of technology, knowledge, and sensibility cultivated over many years, and it is also a symbol of our spirit of challenge.
We believe that the expressive power which cannot be replicated by machines is what determines a product’s essential appeal. Furthermore, we are confident that the manual techniques we have passed down for approximately 30 years can eventually become a “new technology” that Japan can be proud of.
Under the conviction of “giving form to what we envision with our own hands,” we have remained dedicated to manual work since our founding, valuing the depth and character that only handmade processes can express.
Holding close the ideals symbolized by the nine “D’s” in our company name, we are determined to continue pursuing a form of craftsmanship that delivers an emotional impact from Japan to the world.
Moving forward, we will continue to bring together the skills and sensibilities of our artisans to provide special spaces and experiences for our clients.

SDG Goal 12: “Responsible Consumption and Production”
At D-NINE, we support and are actively engaged in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
1. Establishment of a Groundbreaking Painting Method
In 2015, we succeeded in developing a solvent-free, clear-color, UV-curable resin paint. Because it hardens only when exposed to a UV lamp, any paint not directly exposed does not cure, resulting in zero waste paint. This is a groundbreaking painting method that achieves low pollution, resource conservation, energy savings, and zero waste disposal.
Previous Two-Component Curable Paint | Current UV-Curable Resin Paint | Comparison Result | Benefit | |
---|---|---|---|---|
VOC Content | 50% | 0 | -50% | Low Pollution |
Drying | Heat Drying: 50 min | UV Curing: 3 min | -94% | Energy Saving |
Waste Paint Ratio | 45% | 2% | -43% | Low Pollution / Resource Saving |
Mist Ratio | 30% | 0 | -30% | Low Pollution |
Paint Film Thickness | 190μ | 140μ | -26% | Resource Saving |
2.Aluminum: An Excellent Material for Recycling
As you may know, aluminum is a metal well-suited for recycling. It is said that the energy required to recycle scrap into secondary ingots is only 3% of that needed to produce entirely new ingots from raw materials. This means that as much as 97% of energy can be saved, which also leads to cost reductions in areas such as waste disposal.
3.Lightweight for Good Productivity and Transportability
Comparing aluminum and stainless steel of the same size, aluminum is lightweight at approximately one-third the weight of stainless steel (specific gravity: aluminum 2.7, stainless steel 7.9). Therefore, during factory processing, it can be carried by hand without the use of machinery. Additionally, it requires less transport energy, making it a material that can be described as friendly to people and the planet.
4. Exceptional On-Site Installability
Because aluminum is lightweight, an LGS (Light Gauge Steel) frame is sufficient for support, compared to the heavy-duty subframes required for materials like stone or stainless steel. Using an adhesion method, it can be cut on-site with a power circular saw, allowing for speedy installation. This also contributes to resource and energy savings.
